Two and a half years ago, I suffered from chronic fatigue. I would wake up each day and try to work in my home office and be tired within a couple hours needing to sleep or take medication to endure pain.

My journey toward healing led me to massage, which helped me get back in touch with my needs. The massage therapist, I saw, had a picture of Jesus Laughing hanging in the room. I would look at the painting and smile, feel a sense of peace, and know everything would be OK.

My massage therapist was moving into new office space recently and was unpacking. He had a picture of Jesus as Carpenter, a picture of Jesus' hands, and the picture of Jesus Laughing. He turned to me and said, "Would you like this one?"

"Oh, Yes," I smiled.

We went into the office area, sat down and he explained how he had grown up with this picture in his home. Earlier that day, my daughter had moved out in a fit of anger. I knew instantly that all would be OK. Within days, my daughter and I met with her pastor for counsel and she returned back home.

I had not told my massage therapist what the picture of Jesus Laughing had meant to me over the last two years, nor did he know about my daughter leaving home just hours before our appointment that day. After he shared the story with me about what each painting meant to him-I then told him about the day's events.

Jesus Laughing has taught me to be calm, to trust in how life unfolds with purpose and blessing.
